This song is just as inspirational as any other on i/o. Very bright and optimistic. Looking forward to hearing what’s left as we get to the conclusion of the album this year.

I love this mix - Peter's vocals come across more powerfully at the beginning - but both are great! I'm wondering if this artwork might be a great cover art for the album when it's released? It's haunting and beautiful and it conveys the themes of the album so well. Time will tell! :)

I am wondering which mixes will be chosen for the final release. Or will there be a new way? Perhaps we can choose our own versions and a (physical) medium it will be delivered on. Wouldn’t that be cool? To be able to create your own preferred collection of the new i/o. Peters delivers the input, and we, the buyers, choose the output 😎.
Favorite track: Olive Tree (Dark-Side Mix).

As with most of the Dark-Side-Mixes, I prefer them, because there's a little more breathing-room for the music. The "louder" Bright-Side-Mixes may have their merits on tiny speakers or while listening in loud environments but, as said, on proper equipment I'd always go for less compression...

In the misty silvered night
My eyes fall to the ground
I can feel it come alive
In the seeds pushing out through the soil
New life weaves its way out through the coil
Nothing’s going to hold this movement down
I was apart from it, my head in the sky
With no ears to listen, no light reached my eye
There rose the fungi, still tied to its past
For the melting of the solid world the changes coming fast
And its Ho oh
I’ve got the water falling on me – it’s all waking me up
I’ve got the sunlight warming my back - warming up all my bones
I’ve got the cool breeze right on my skin
Bringing every cell to life, making all connections live
From one point to another and we’re all here just the same
Trying to make some sense of it, where I’m going now
And how it fits together in the bigger shape of things
And I slide into the waves, leaving land behind
It’s another world I’m entering now
There’s the shark pushing through the swaying weeds
Predator and prey sort out their needs
Nothing’s going to hold this pattern down
I was apart from it in a world of our own
We’d lost all connection to the place from which we’d grown
But here in this helmet I can read other minds
And scan all the thinking all the juice I can find
And its Ho oh
I’ve got the water falling on me – it’s all waking me up
I’ve got the sunlight warming my back warming up all my bones
I’ve got the cool breeze right on my skin
Bringing every cell to life making all connections live
From one point to another and we’re all here just the same
Trying to make some sense of it, where I’m going now
And how it fits together in the bigger shape of things
Water falls on me
It’s waking up the world
Water falls on us

I absolutely LOVE Dark Matter and think it is one of PT's best early tracks that holds up to even their best work in the early 2000s, and this particular live performance is sublime! kilimajaro

Another stellar release from this long-lived ensemble. Though the King Crimson influence is obvious & that comparison unavoidable, these guys have made many great recordings that can't be categorized as 'mere copies'. The perfect balance of aggressive riffing and serene soundscapes. Stephen Roberts
